Vegetation Management

Our vegetation program has changed from a three-year cycle to a five-year cycle in order to reduce the dependency on contractors. This means we will need to achieve extra clearance to maintain the line for five years. CAREA is also using a brush mower for our larger slash locations. Combined with the new cycle, the cost of vegetation control should be reduced and better quality of work achieved.

In the south part of CAREA’s coverage area, trim trucks and brush mowers will be working south of Sundre and in the Rimbey area from Township 42 and north.

The locations for the Sundre area are as follows: 29-05-W5, 30-4-W5, 30-05-W5, 30-06-W5, 30-07-W5, 31-04-W5, 31-05-W5, 31-06-W5, 32-03-W5, 32-04-W5 and 32-06-W5. The locations for the Rimbey area are as follows: 42-01-W5, 42-02-W5, 42-03-W5, 42-04-W5, 43-28-W5, 43-01-W5, 43-02-W5, 43-03-W5, 43-04-W5, 44-01-W5, 44-02-W5, 44-03-W5, 44-05-W5, 45-01-W5, 45-02-W5 and 45-04-W5.

Sure Shot Environmental, our consenting contractor, will be consenting in the Blackfalds/Lacombe/Sylvan Lake area for 2013 mechanical work, such as trimming, slashing and mowing. They will be visiting members along Township Roads 38 (Joffre area), 39, 40 and 41.

In the north part of CAREA’s coverage area, trim trucks and brush mowers will be working in the area around Lac Ste. Anne, along Township Roads 53, 54 and 55.

The locations for the Lac Ste. Anne area are as follows: 53-03-W5, 53-04-W5, 53-05-W5, 54-03-W5, 54-04-W5, 54-05-W5 and 55-05-W5.

Sure Shot Environmental , our consenting contractor, will be consenting in the Onoway south area for 2013 mechanical work, such as trimming, slashing and mowing. They will be visiting members along Township Roads 53, 54 and 55.

CAREA has decided to adopt the “Go Green” initiative and as a result has discontinued its spray program. Any areas that had been consented (and not already sprayed) will not be completed. We ask that members support us in this decision and we are encouraging future consent for the use of our mower in the larger spray areas.
