Additional Services
CAREA recently began offering new products to its members - yard lights, a GenerLink System and portable generators by Generac.
Yard light: CAREA will install and maintain a 150W yard light, which can only be mounted on a CAREA transformer pole. The number of yard lights a member can have is limited to the number of poles. The 70W option will not be available in 2012.
The light will automatically come on at dusk, and shut off again at dawn.
There is no upfront cost if the member chooses to have a light installed, and CAREA will charge a monthly fee of $8.28 to maintain the light. This charge will show up on the member’s bill.
GenerLink system: GenerLink is an interconnection device that enables the member to connect a portable generator directly to the home’s wiring system, and will be installed and maintained by CAREA.
GenerLink is designed as an alternative to expensive transfer switches and hazardous extension cords.
This system is installed quickly by a CAREA employee, behind the electric meter, and doesn’t require any rewiring of the electrical system in place.
With a $200 deposit, the monthly payment would be $26.58 for 36 months.
With a $400 deposit, the monthly payment would be $20.29 for 36 months.
Paying the full amount up front would cost $1,097.25.
In terms of operation, having a GenerLink device will only add an additional $10.28 to the member’s monthly bill, on top of upfront costs. This monthly fee is to cover maintenance and any replacement costs.
Generac Generator: Members can power the fun stuff or cover an emergency with a portable generator.
The GP Series portable generators, by Generac, have a compact design, a large fuel tank and an easy-to-read gauge, covered outlets that provide added protection from the elements or rugged working conditions, a hardened steel tube cradle and heavy-duty, never-flat wheels. Each option CAREA is offering runs on gasoline.
The 5,000-watt option, which can handle up to 5 kVa, will cost $984.90 upfront, or $29.49 a month, for 36 months, with no down payment.
The 7,500-watt manual start option, which can handle up to 7.5 kVa, will cost $1,440.60 up front, or $43.16 a month, for 36 months, with no down payment.
The 7,500-wat electric start option, which can handle up to 7.5 KVa, will cost $1,556.10 up front, or $46.63 a month for 36 months.
